Nigeria Police starts Investigating Leader Of #EndSARS Protest
The police are investigating Segun Awosanya, one of the major voices requesting the scrapping of the notorious anti-robbery squad, SARS, known for human rights misuse and mercilessness against citizens, a representative has said.
Mr. Awosanya, a lead campaigner in the resident drove #EndSARS activity, was blamed for fraternizing with legislators in some of his photos that police have seen on the web.
"When you see somebody like that who consistently blends with legislators now driving a crusade to scrap a basic division in the police, at that point you know his exercises are not honest to goodness," police representative, Jimoh Moshood, disclosed to Premium Times .
Mr. Moshood messaged a photo which Mr. Awosanya brought with Speaker Yakubu Dogara and another he took at a business gathering as characteristic of his political ties. Yet, he said the police was not blaming the Speaker for supporting Mr. Awosanya and different #EndSARS campaigners.
Awosanya revealed to Premium Times he brought the photo with Dogara when his group presented an appeal to for the scrapping of SARS to the Speaker in September.
Moshood said the police regard the privileges of Nigerians to communicate on the web or disconnected, yet that would not prevent officers from investigating naughty components who shroud their plan with prevalent causes.
